EU Lawmakers Look To Regulate Advance AI

According to a Wall Street Journal investigation, European legislators want to give regulators more authority to control AI technology like ChatGPT.

A group of EU legislators will publish an open letter outlining the need for a unique set of regulations tailored to potent, all-purpose AI technologies in the field.

The MPs stated in the letter that "we see the need for significant political attention given the rapid evolution of powerful AI."

Through this bill, lawmakers hope to direct the advancement of extremely potent artificial intelligence in a human-centric, secure, and reliable direction.

Regulators will gather this week to talk about the suggestions and choose a unified stance. The Parliament will then vote on the same in May.

Earlier, Elon Musk and other experts signed an open letter calling for a temporary pause to the development of powerful AI.
